Section 101 has been BUSY! It continues to be an exciting growth time for us thanks to our participation with some of the best music industry conferences. Whenever we engage, we go full throttle, and June was a perfect example as Section 101 exhibited, spoke at and partnered with New Music Seminar and A2IM’s Indie Week, both taking place in New York City, Section 101’s backyard. I am always in awe of independent artists and music companies, and the time and effort they commit to becoming successful in a highly competitive arena.
First up was the New Music Seminar, which Section 101 was a partner of this year. Running June 17 – 19th all over New York City at night, and at Webster Hall during the day, we were a strong presence in the Exhibit Area, where you may have noticed many a Registrant carrying around a Section 101 tote bag! We were doing demos of our newest “Do-It-Yourself” option, which offers emerging artists the same full set of tools currently being used by Section clients such as BUSH, Duran Duran and Diane Birch to name just a few. This newest part of our platform provides an easy-to-set-up and customize website with social media integration, design flexibility, ease of use in uploading music, videos and photos, and superior customer support. Additionally, I gave a well-received (it was crowded!) 18-minute Intensive called Harnessing the Power of You, talking about all the ways music artists can harness their own power to make the web work for them. As one of the few woman entrepreneurs to speak, it was inspiring to hear all the great feedback and support from many female attendees (thank you!). We also threw a food n’ drinks get together at the Village Pourhouse, where we connected with a lot of old and new friends.
We had an equally amazing experience with A2IM, where Section 101 was a sponsor of this year’s Indie Week. We love working alongside A2IM, which serves the Independent music community as a unified voice. The 2012 conference kicked off on June 18th at Slate New York City with an opening night event. Along with providing one-on-one sessions for attendees who were interested in learning more about Section 101, we met with plenty of people eager to HEAR more about taking control of their online brand. We also got to attend the Independent Music Libera Awards, where Kina Grannis (whose site is powered by Section 101) was up for Best Music Video of the year with the incredible “In Your Arms” (link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOu0DuxFAT0).
While we were so busy from the end of May through June preparing for both conferences, it’s important for us to connect with like-minded people and companies, and there is almost no better way to do that than participating in these kinds of conferences.
If any member of the Section 101 team spoke with you at either NMS or A2IM, it was great to meet you! Thank you for taking the time to see what Section101 provides and for sitting down for a chat!
